What was Juilliard like?

Exciting, difficult, emotional, rewarding, lonely. It's a very powerful place. I dreamed of attending school there, and I feel very proud that I was accepted and that I finished my degree.

What is it like working with Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox?

They are a blast! I have had a great time making videos and touring with them. It's a collective of musicians, so the fun of it is that the casts change all the time.

Why don't you try out for The Voice?

Some of the shows have age limits (American Idol), and for the rest...it is not the way I want to get to where I'm going. I think it's great that so many people have been propelled by those platforms! But I think it's my destiny to 'make it the old-fashioned way' :)

How old were you when you started singing?

I joined the school choir and started taking voice lessons when I was 13 years old.

How do you keep your voice in shape, night after night?

I try to get plenty of sleep and water; I warm-up before shows; I don't eat meat and I try to avoid dairy.

Do you still take voice lessons?

Yes, I do! Every week, when I am in NYC and my schedule permits.

How did you decide to be a recording artist?

I didn't decide; It chose me. I was lucky enough to meet the right people and get signed to Epic Records in 2012.

Did you always know you wanted to be a singer/actor?

When I was younger, I wanted to have a career caring for animals. But after my veterinary aspirations were thwarted, (meaning: I am horrible at science), then I found theatre in high school ;)

Do you think you will do a Broadway show again?

Theatre will always be close to my heart. I would love to do a Broadway show again, if the right opportunity came along.

Why aren't you coming to [ ] town on your tour??

I want to go everywhere! But unfortunately, I do not control the booking of shows/appearances. I have no say over tour routing. I promise to try to visit every town, at some point :)
